Island Princess Cruise

Well, if you didn't go, you missed a wonderful evening. The Island Princess crew was terrific, hors de ordervs very tasty, the boat spotless and well appointed, and the weather, perfect. Captain Bob took us out to the inlet, around Sewells point, west to Hell Gate, and got us back right on time two hours later.

35 Club Members enjoyed the trip, many of us noting how wonderful it was to be served, not worry about channel markers, other boats, sand bars, or have to clean up the boat when we got back.

The prevailing comments, "This is great, we have to do this again", and "if XXXX had known how nice this is, they would have come along".

Thanks, Char, for putting us onto this, and thanks, Bob & Crew, for a very nice evening.

Seminole Inn Cruise 2010

18 members & friends cruised to the Seminole Inn for lunch yesterday. Boats tied up at the Indiantown Marina and the Powells who drove over, along with a shuttle bus provided transportation to & from the Inn. Once again, no one complained that they didn't get enough to eat, or that the buffet wasn't worth the trip. Just another "HoHum day" in sunny south Florida!

25th Annual Ladies Tournament Results

Weather was great, bathtub-like seas, 28 boats, 69 lady anglers, and many fans & supporters made this another great tournament, though fish were scattered & few. But fun abounded. (See Stuart Sailfish Club Pictures for an album of 185 pictures.)

A few dolphin and kingfish weighed in, and a cobia...no wahoo. One sail couldn't escape the fight put up by Rachelle Creech. Mandy Price caught the only cobia and the heaviest kingfish. (Where were those catagories for bonita and amberjack?)

General Meeting & Docktail Parties Great Success

According to the estimated 150 and 200 attendees at the March 5th and April 9th SSC meetings, they were great fun and a good time for all. There were display booths, refreshments, lots of fine food, music, dancing, and boats for sale. Members and guests toured the docks, renewed friendships, and told fishing lies...er, stories.
.
"This new format for our general meetings is a lot more exciting than the old meetings" Cindy said. "There were members in attendance that we've never seen at general meetings before".

The Board of Directors has been looking for ways to get our membership more involved in Club activities. Mike Fogel suggested "Docktail Parties!" And, it caught on quickly. Additionally, the meetings were moved from Wednesdays to Friday evenings. Char said, "These are great, but in the future, we'll need committees to put them on. It's a lot of work!"
She's right!

If you missed the first two, be sure to come early to the next ones. The parking lots fill up quickly, and nearby street parking can handle a lot of cars, but an early arrival can save a long walk.

Thanks to all the vendors, volunteers, and Club members who came early, stayed late, brought food, cleaned up, and helped make these parties a success. Friday night produced 5 new memberships on the spot, with several applications carried out to send in later.

We're looking forward to seeing you at the next one. Keep an eye on the calendar on our Home Page.
